Display design spotted

While waiting for Evbaby's interview, it was a perfect time to wandering around Covent Garden to look for some inspiration. I think most of people who enjoy living in London, one reason is in this town you can find good ideas everywhere you go. If you just look for them.  At Bow street, which obviously I've been before but never actually look again!  I spotted the modern-look building that sandwiched between 2 periods, definitely don't miss it this time!   Design Council it was, with clean & simple window display, white background and  bold color razor-cut acrylic set. Another effective simple display around the corner.

that metal facade got my attention

this is open

I'm from a tropical climate country. I used to live in a big open space, where you can get the wind blowing your face and ventilate all the heat out of your house. Oppositely, here I live in a very cozy space in order to keep the heat in, which against my root!  I, now and then, really miss the open space with high ceiling, window with floor-to-ceiling height and loads of them!  So,here, dedicate to Modern-Thai architecture I truly proud of, I introduce you some houses from Baan-lae-Suan (Thai term for home & garden)magazine. Thai house normally has a porch and terrace, which designed to connect each room together. why? because traditionally, Thai family all live together in a big house and have to make sure that someone not missing!  Also terrace is good for ventilation.   Everytime I look at them, I just feel home.

so open!!!

from Thai traditional architecture with gable roof, terrace around the house so you can access room-to-room easier

open ground floor for multi-purpose use, such as lounge for guess, hang or even dining

semi-indoor kitchen easily and quickly blow all smoke from cooking out

I miss terrace like this!

semi-indoor kitchen,as you'd see from the left. it's no actual wall

Thai Traditional House. A court is a center of the house, where everyone join family activity. Architecturally, it spread all the wind to each unit. genius ventilation system

Grand Design Live 2011

As promised, today I'm going to share a lot of lovely products I found at Grand Design Live2011. In case that you've never heard about it, Grand Design is a famous TV show, which documents private residential projects, of course, with a great architectural design.  However, this show is not about the TV, but house products exhibition.  Such as, interior product, self build, new building technology, innovation, materials and garden product.  Unfortunately, we're not having plan to build our own house anytime soon, so I was more into interior stuffs like lovely plant pot than £1,000 kitchen top.  I collected name cards and postcards from some shop I like. So, now it's easy for you to chasing them!  enjoy!
